The roofs of two gyms at Montana State University in Bozeman collapsed over the weekend.
According to the Bozeman CBS affiliate, the roof of the North Gym at MSU’s Marga Hosaeus Fitness Center collapsed Saturday evening, just days after the roof of the South Gym did the same.
On Friday, following the collapsed roof of the South Gym, the school had nearly 2 dozen structural engineers evaluating the two flat-roofed buildings on campus and consensus was that the North Gym would also collapse.
By Saturday night, those predictions were realized and the roof of the North Gym caved in around 7:00 p.m. MSU officials said there were no concerns about the structural integrity of other structures on campus.
Officials say the North Gym is part of the same structure and was built at the same time, using the same methods and type of materials as the South Gym.
Because the school anticipated the collapse, precautions were taken to isolate utilities and cordon off the area. There were no injuries reported in either collapse.
