A 57-year-old man pointed what looked like a gun ā€” police suspect it was either a BB gun or a toy ā€” at an employee of a Tooele gym on Monday afternoon.

Then he went through the gym, to the roof of VASA Fitness, at 200 North on Main Street, and either jumped or fell off, said Tooele police spokeswoman Sgt. Tanya Kalma.

When police officers arrived, they found the man on the street behind the gym.

The man had gone into the gym at 315 p.m. About 20 minutes later, he was being transported to a Salt Lake-area hospital by helicopter. Kalma didn't know the man's condition, except that he was conscious when the helicopter took off.

The gym was evacuated for less than 30 minutes, Kalma said.

The investigation is ongoing.

"We don't have any idea yet as to why this happened or what was going on," Kalma said.
