New Hotel Rooms Can Transform into Personal Gyms

Hilton Worldwide Holdings this week announced a new program that will allow guests to get in a workout without leaving their rooms.

Dubbed “Five Feet to Fitness,” the program calls for a new category of guest rooms that come equipped with stationary bikes, a functional training station, suspension training and more. A touchscreen “Fitness Kiosk” will be available to offer guests equipment tutorials and guided workout routines. Guests will be able to follow along to cardio, cycling, endurance, strength, high-intensity interval, yoga, stretching and recovery workouts.

“The variety of activity the room enables is motivating,” Ryan Crabbe, senior director for global wellness at Hilton said in a statement. “One morning a guest can decide to roll out of bed for a quick guided stretch and yoga poses. Then later that evening, he or she may return from a stressful day and take a brisk bike ride while catching up on a favorite show or the day’s business news.”

Today, many hotels are expanding their in-house fitness facilities and partnering with local gyms to offer an improved workout experience for guests. The in-room concept takes the recent trend of “sportspitality,” or the marriage of fitness and hospitality, to a new level.

In addition to the fitness offerings, the new room category also comes with amenities intended for total wellness. Guests can center themselves in a meditation chair, or draw the blackout shades for better sleep.

The room category is currently available in San Francisco, but will be rolling out to the Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and San Diego markets soon.
