The NCAA is expected to add three new bowl games to the schedule in the 2020 season, according to college football insiderBrett McMurphy.

One of the new bowl games will likely be at Wrigley Field in Chicago, according to McMurphy's report. That game is set to feature a Big Ten team against an ACC opponent. Myrtle Beach is also likely to host one of the new bowl games, while the location of the third game is not clear.

If the NCAA adds three new bowl games, the total number of postseason games will be a record 43 for FBS teams (including the College Football Playoff). The additional bowl games come at the recommendation of the NCAA's Competition Committee. Here's McMurphy's full report:

NCAA expected to add 3 new bowl games in 2020

Wrigley Field isset to host Northwestern and Wisconsin for a game during the 2020 season, marking the second time the Wildcats are playing at the home of the Chicago Cubs in 10 years. An outdoor game in Chicago in late December could lead to some interesting weather, but many Big Ten fans would likely be happy to have a bowl destination within driving distance.
