An indoor sports facility at the planned Ballpark Commons mixed-use development in Franklin has landed a tenant.

SC Waukesha has agreed to merge with Prospect Training Academy, a baseball academy, and will be a tenant at the Ballpark Commons Sports Performance Center, it was announced Wednesday.

That center is part of the planned development, which would also include a baseball stadium for an independent professional team, stores and restaurants, apartments and other new uses.

Developer Mike Zimmerman plans to develop Ballpark Commons at The Rock, his outdoor sports facility at 7900 Crystal Ridge Road. Zimmerman's operations include Prospect Training Academy.

Ballpark Commons Sports Performance Center would feature more than 40,000 square feet of commercial space for performance- and wellness-based services.

It also would have 75,000 square feet of four-season turf on the ground floor for athlete training, tournaments and games - serving as Wisconsin's only full-size indoor soccer field.

SC Waukesha will continue to operate facilities in Waukesha, New Berlin and Greendale, said Shan Amini, club president.

Zimmerman expects to obtain final city and state approvals for Ballpark Commons and begin construction in 2018.
