April showers certainly didn't start May with flowers, at least in one North Texas town.
The high school gymnasium at Windthorst, a town about 25 miles south of Wichita Falls, suffered damage across a large section of the roof.
It was not immediately known how much damage was done to the gym's court.
The Windthorst FFA Horticulture greenhouse was also destroyed, as the high winds caused the fiberglass roof and wall panels to be damaged.
Windthorst ISD Superintendent Lonnie Hise said the damage happened Wednesday night about 8:30 or 9.
"About 10:15 last night we decided that for safety's sake, we were going to postpone school until 10:00 today (Thursday)," Hise said.
He said school officials "didn't know what loose wires were around, if it was structurally safe."
"We're not going to be able to use our gym for a while, but as far as the school goes, we're back in, started at 10:00 this morning (Thursday) and we're going to school as usual."
