More than sixty Interscholastic Athletics officials from across the country converged on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus March 21-23rd for the National Interscholastic Athletics and After-School Activities Safety and Security Summit, hosted by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4).

Participants included Superintendents, Principals, Athletic Directors, School Resource Officers, and Local Law Enforcement professionals. They had the opportunity to hear from top safety experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Federation of State High School Associations, among others. Attendees participated in moderated discussions for designated issues such as Emergency Operations Planning; Identifying Threats and Hazards; and Safety and Security Staff Training.

The establishment of a “Best Practices Guide” for Interscholastic Athletics will result from the Summit and will become a key resource for safety and security for schools throughout the United States. The guide will be unveiled at the National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition on July 6, 2015.
