Winlock (Wash.) High Schoolā€™s baseball field was damaged to the tune of at least $1,000 over the weekend, with vandals leaving a trail of destruction including spray painted racial slurs, images of genitalia and lewd language.

KIRO 7 reports that the vandals were caught sneaking onto the field at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning by surveillance cameras. That didnā€™t stop the vandals from spray painting graffiti throughout the facility ā€” including nearly entirely over dugouts and onto the field itself.

ā€œIt wasnā€™t the type of thing we want kids to see or anybody to see,ā€ Winlock superintendent Rick Serns told KIRO 7. ā€œEverybody is upset, naturally. We take pride in our community and our schools and our facilities.ā€

In addition to the spray paint, vandals also tipped over a portable toilet and blew up both home plate and the pitchers mound.

Lewis County Sheriff Dusty Breen told KIRO 7 that suspects could face felony malicious mischief charges because of the extent of the damage.
