National Aquatics Leader is Elected to CMAHC Board of Directors
Decatur, Ga., December 5, 2017 —The Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) announces that Alvaro Mendoza, co-founder and President of Commercial Energy Specialists, Inc. (CES), of Jupiter, Florida has been elected as the newest member of the CMAHC Board of Directors. Mendoza is one of the leading aquatic water quality experts in the US and is credited with CES being named to the Top Companies to Watch in Florida and the Fastest Growing 100 Companies. Mendoza’s extensive experience in alternative energy technologies has provided a unique opportunity to pioneer energy conversions in aquatic treatment applications. Since 1983, CES has provided Service Supported Distribution (SSD®) of water treatment programs for thousands of the premier pools in Florida and the Caribbean. Currently CES provides 24/7 monitoring and/or water quality control services for over 500 million gallons of water. CES's commitment to continuing innovation and improvement, along with historically responsive customer service is a reflection of the deeply rooted beliefs of the CES management team. Mendoza was a member of the MAHC Facility Design and Construction Technical Committee during the development phase of the MAHC. Michael Beach, President of the CMAHC Board of Directors, notes “Adding high-caliber aquatics leaders, like Alvaro Mendoza, to the CMAHC Board positions the CMAHC to continue to promote its health and safety mission and expand its’ leadership role in aquatics”.
The CMAHC exists solely to promote and sustain the MAHC, the only all-inclusive national model pool code. Unlike other model codes, the MAHC is kept sustainable, current, and complete because the people who use it vote on its content through membership in the CMAHC. These proposed changes are given to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to advise CDC on how the MAHC needs to change to keep up with the latest science and best practices.
CDC worked with public health, academia, and aquatics industry representatives across the United States on developing the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC),a voluntary guidance document to prevent drowning, injuries, and the spread of recreational water illnesses at public swimming pools and spas. The Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC), a non-profit organization, was created to work in partnership with CDC to ensure that the MAHC is regularly improved and updated to keep pace with the latest science, industry advances, and public health findings. Industry and public health professionals can help promote aquatic health, safety, and recreation by joining the CMAHC as a member and participating in the CMAHC’s mission to promote aquatic health and safety.
