Sacramento, California - November 30, 2012 - The California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) announces entries for the 2012 Excellence in Design Award program may be submitted via the Society's website, http://awards.cprs.org. The deadline for entries is December 20, 2012, 11:59 pm.
The Excellence in Design award recognizes design excellence of completed park, recreation and or cultural facilities intended for public use. The project may be either new construction or a rehabilitation project that demonstrates high standards of planning, design, community involvement, operation and maintenance, quality of aesthetics, usability, accessibility and versatility.
The project must have been completed between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012. The entry class is based upon the project cost. Entries may be submitted in: Park Planning & Development: Neighborhood, Community, Regional, Specialty Facility Design: Aquatic Facilities, Community Centers/Mixed Use Facilities; and Cultural Facilities This annual design competition is open to members and non-members of the California Park & Recreation Society. Award entries submitted by private firms or individuals (i.e., architects, landscape architects, planners) must submit a letter from their client acknowledging their permission to submit the entry. Awards will be presented Friday, March 8, 2013, in San Jose, California.
