Lancaster, PA (March 26, 2014) –  ECORE International, a company that transforms reclaimed waste into unique performance surfacing, today announced that its Forest rx product received Top Product of the Year in the Environmental Leader Product & Project Awards.

ECORE’s new Forest rx flooring uses up to 95 percent post-consumer recycled rubber, meeting both ergonomic design objectives and sustainability goals. ECORE’s revolutionary manufacturing process and technology makes the Forest rx product line the most sustainable flooring solution for education, retail, corporate and healthcare facilities. Through innovative R&D and the use of recycled scrap-tire rubber, Forest rx offers superior performance, improved acoustics and ergonomics, and can reduce the risk of injury associated with falls by nearly 17 percent.

One judge said, “Another product born out of genuine sustainability-focused thinking, manufactured in a sustainable business work environment and with significant people-related benefits in terms of its ability to reduce the injury impact of falls. The take-back & recycle program is also impressive.”

Another added, “This solves two real challenges at once – what to do with used tires and how to reduce demand on petroleum or bio products for construction and flooring.”

The Environmental Leader Product & Project Awards is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits, or in projects implemented by companies that improved environmental or energy management and increased the bottom line.

“We’re honored to be recognized by Environmental Leader and the esteemed panel of judges in this year’s list of top products,” said Art Dodge, chief executive officer at ECORE International.  â€śOur longstanding mission has been to transform reclaimed waste into surfaces that deliver unique performance, while achieving significant sustainability objectives. We’re proud to be listed among notable peers for our dedication to employing ecological practices that eliminate wastefulness, without sacrificing quality.”

Scores were determined by a panel of independent judges headed by Matthew Littlefield of LNS Research as well as judges from companies including Anheuser Busch InBev, Arrow Electronics, Autodesk, Citigroup Inc., Con Agra Foods, Environmental & Operational Risk Management, GlaxoSmithKline, ISS Facility Services, Microsoft, Owens Corning, Power Advocate, Puma, Sam’s Club, Sustainability and Risk Management Reputation Limited, Trupoint Advisers, the University of California Berkeley, Williams Creek Consulting and YES Bank.

With today’s crowded playing field, energy and sustainability professionals have a notoriously difficult time knowing what products to choose to help their companies increase energy, environmental and sustainability performance. The Environmental Leader Product & Project Awards give companies a solid base of products, vetted by experts, from which to choose.
