Upace Custom-Branded App Upgrades FSU Campus Rec Operations
Tallahassee, FL—As Florida State University (FSU) students return to campus after the indulgences of the holiday season, they’re discovering a new, free tool that gives them a well-timed jump on fitness. FSU Rec is a new mobile app designed and custom-branded by upace, which makes exercise more convenient and campus recreation centers more efficient. The app went live on Friday, January 5. By Monday, more than 1,600 students had downloaded it.
“We’re off to a great start,” said David Peters, Associate Director with FSU Campus Recreation. “Students love how easy it is to register for group fitness classes. One tweeted, ‘My prayers have been heard’ @FSUCampusRec.”
FSU partnered with upace at the 2017 Evolve Fitness Symposium, where more than 93 percent of attendees downloaded the upace app. That led to the development of the FSU Rec app in time for this semester. FSU Rec gives students a full suite of tools, including:
● Real-time facility occupancy & status information
● Class & event reservations
● Equipment reservation (e.g., paddle boards, kayaks, canoes & sailboats)
● Customized reminders & communication via push notifications & in-app alerts
“Our participants want rec facility and program information, plus registration and reservation systems, at their fingertips on their mobile devices, and the new upace FSU Rec app gives them just that,” said Peters. “On the back end, it provides us with automated data collection that will inform and empower our operational decisions.”
The upace administrative portal gives FSU Campus Recreation staff:
