DPD Pro is the first NSF Certified dip-and-read test strip for public pools, saving time and minimizing steps, delivering accurate results for seven key chemistries in less than two minutes.

ELKHART, Ind. / March, 2017 --
Hach has pioneered a new testing solution for aquatic professionals who are responsible for maintaining healthy water at public pools and spas. The new DPD Pro™ test strip kit, released in February, offers a quick and easy method to obtain accurate, reliable test results using the DPD method for Total Chlorine and Free Chlorine. In less than two minutes, pool operators and staff can obtain test results for seven key chemistries. Hach's DPD Pro is Certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 for Free Chlorine and pH.

"DPD Pro minimizes the number of steps required for testing and eliminates the need for counting drops and diluting high range samples. It makes it easier for everyone to get testing right -- just dip, read and log results," explains Lara Winter, Product Manager at Hach. "We're always looking for opportunities to simplify testing, and pool operators have expressed a desire for faster and simpler testing using the DPD method."

According to a recent CDC report, pool and hot tub inspection data from 16 reporting jurisdictions across the United States at various aquatic venues indicated that 12.3% of inspections resulted in immediate closure because of the seriousness of identified violations. Violations regarding the following issues are frequently identified: Free Chlorine level (11.9% of inspections), proper pH level (14.9%), other water chemistry (12.5%). Currently, only 68% of U.S. local public health agencies regulate, inspect, or license public aquatic facilities, and not all facilities require a certified operator on staff.

DPD Pro's simplicity reduces the chance for errors due to improper technique, while providing reliable results using the DPD method. DPD Pro features two bottles of multi-way test strips and a durable color chart conveniently packaged in a sturdy test kid. Test strip refills are also available.

The new free DPD Pro smartphone app offers a convenient method of logging and tracking test results. Test results can be exported for advanced analysis and graphing test results over time, making it easier to identify pools or spas requiring extra attention. When temperature, hardness, pH and alkalinity are included in test results, a Saturation Index value is calculated automatically.
