Honor Yoga Stretches Into Ohio

Booming yoga franchise set to expand with location in Cincinnati

Lawrenceville, New Jersey – Honor Yoga, known as an eco- and beginner-friendly yoga studio and community that welcomes and nourishes every yogi to thrive in their practice, has set its intentions on Cincinnati. Looking to stretch its yoga experience to more communities, the New Jersey-based brand is targeting to open in Ohio’s third largest city by early summer 2019.

The Cincinnati location will be owned and operated by husband and wife duo Carey and John Curran. While there is no set location, the Currans are eyeing West Chester and Mason, as well as Montgomery and Hyde Park, as possible sites.

“We are excited to bring Honor Yoga to Cincinnati,” said Carey Curran. “As the city continues to grow, we noticed the community taking a bigger interest in wellness, and we knew there was a need for a beginner-friendly studio. We hope to provide an encouraging community that offers yoga practices for every person.”

Yoga is not just a business venture for the Currans, but a part of their daily lives. Prior to franchising with Honor Yoga, John Curran operated an oil businhttps://www.athleticbusiness.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=edit#ess before deciding to become an airline pilot. He went on to become one of the founding pilots of JetBlue, yet suffered a stroke that left him grounded. Finding solace in skiing, John now works as an assistant coach of the U.S. Ski Team, where his son Connor Curran also trains, with eyes set on the 2026 Olympics. Carey Curran also comes from an aviation background, as a flight attendant.

Carey Curran recently suffered a shoulder injury in which she found yoga an essential element for recovery. John found comfort in yoga in his rehabilitation, and Connor uses yoga in his skiing training. Knowing the benefits of yoga, the Currans knew bringing Honor Yoga to Cincinnati was the next move.

“Yoga can transform your life, both physically and mentally,” added Carey Curran. “Our family saw the positive impact of the practice and knew we had to show others how powerful it is. With a wide-array of classes from power flow to roots to aerial yoga, we hope to provide different formats and avenues for other’s to discover yoga.”

Founded by fitness industry veteran Maria Turco, Honor Yoga’s mission is to provide welcoming, beginner-friendly and accessible yoga studios where healthier and happier communities can be built around the practice of yoga. Focused on five pillars– physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social health – Honor Yoga offers a variety of classes to fit into each individual’s diverse lifestyle and schedule. From gentle, roots, calm and strong, slow flow, flow, power flow, aerial, yogabarre and meditation, each class is designed to fulfill Honor Yoga’s five pillars of yogic practice to relax the mind, restore balance, and build strength and flexibility. Furthermore, each studio is consciously designed with the environment in mind. The living and breathing space honors the body, spirit and environment through a living vertical garden, bamboo floors as a wood substitute, safe cleaning products, and reusable retail products, among other design elements.

“Yoga serves as a catalyst for self-growth and discovery. Carey and John understand the power of yoga and desire to introduce others to its effects” added Turco. “We are thrilled to have the Currans join our family and look forward to watching them plant roots and expand into Cincinnati.”

Honor Yoga currently has 25 studios in various stages of development across six states, with plans to open 20 additional studios each year. By 2023, Honor Yoga expects to have 100 studios open and operating.
