For over sixteen years Inner Fire Yoga has been offering yoga classes on Madison’s Westside. Last week, Inner Fire Yoga broke ground on an Eastside location at the Marling development on East Washington at the Yahara River. This will be the third location for Inner Fire Yoga in Madison.
Marit Sathrum, owner of Inner Fire Yoga, states: “Inner Fire Yoga community members have been asking for over a decade, “When are you going to open an Eastside location?”
Marit adds she’s been looking for a Eastside space since first considering the old Madison Candy building in 2005. The Marling development is the eighth location that she’s negotiated as an Eastside expansion.
Marit says, “The Marling is perfect for Inner Fire Yoga. It’s on the Yahara River bike path, across from Burr Jones park, in the center of the Eastside development action, on the major commuter throughway of East Washington, and even with dedicated commercial parking spaces in the Marling garage! We are very excited and look forward to making a greater impact on the health and wellness of the Madison community by offering the proven physical fitness and mindful practice of yoga. In addition, we are excited to enlarge the opportunity to raise funds for charity, an core value of our business - over $110,000 donated so far, with over $40,000 to Domestic Abuse Intervention Services of Dane County, alone. The goal is to double that in the next seven years.”
Inner Fire Yoga currently has two locations at University Avenue and Whitney Way on the Westside, and at the Lucky building at University Avenue and Lake Street downtown near the epicenter of the University of WI campus. The new Eastside Marling location is expected to open in late December, and will include two radiant-heated yoga studios offering over a dozen yoga classes every day including Hot Yoga, Inner Fire Flow, Power, Sculpt, Yin and Gentle Yoga. The Marling location will include men’s and women’s dressing rooms with showers, and a retail boutique.

Inner Fire Yoga currently employs four full time managers, four part time managers, forty two part time yoga teachers, and ten part time receptionists. With the expansion to the Marling, Inner Fire Yoga is estimated to be adding twenty part time yoga teachers, five part time receptionists and one full time manager. Inner Fire Yoga also offers a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program since 2007 and is a Registered Yoga School with the Yoga Alliance.
