Interscholastic Athletics and After-School Activities Safety and Security Summit

The Summit will address critical safety and security issues and identify solutions and future best practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in moderated discussions (round robin) for designated issues (manpower/resources, risk analysis, legal challenges, community politics, buy-in from local agencies and upper management, and financial concerns) within the following topic areas:

12:15 -1:15 p.m. Lunch What do you do when you receive a Bomb Threat during After School Hours? Doug DeLancey, Program Manager, Office of Bombing Prevention, DHS

1:15 -2:45 p.m. Discussion Groups Rotation 3

2:45- 3 p.m. Break 3 - 5 p.m. Tabletop Exercise: Opportunity to Assess Your Preparation, Mitigation, Preparedness and Recovery to the Designed Scenario Post-incident critiques often confirm that experience gained during exercise was the best way to prepare teams to respond effectively to an emergency. Attendees will participate in an exercise designed to engage team members and get them working together to manage the response to an incident scenario. The goal is to enhance knowledge of plans, allow attendees to improve their own performance and identify opportunities to improve capabilities to respond to real events.
