NEW YORK, December 6, 2018 — WSP USA , a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, has announced the appointment of Jamie Qualk as vice president in its San Francisco office.
Qualk’s experience spans the entire building life cycle; design, build and operate coupled with a passion for the built environment. He will leverage his expertise working with Fortune 500 companies, professional sports franchises, federal and state governments and other institutional clients to help grow WSP’s business in the Bay Area.
Prior to joining WSP, Qualk was an operations director for Balfour Beatty Construction in Oakland and San Francisco where, in addition to other responsibilities, he directed multiple projects including a three-building community college academic core facilities construction project.
“We are excited to have someone with Jamie’s qualifications and experience join our team,” said Sarah Kuchera, senior vice president and managing director of WSP’s California building practice. “His experience with complex buildings, sustainable techniques, and high profile clients, makes him a great addition to our California team.”
Qualk earned a bachelor of engineering in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. He is currently a sustainable practice adjunct at Lipscomb University for its MBA program and was a lecturer in Vanderbilt University’s construction management Master’s program.
Qualk was previously recognized by ENR California’s 2016 Top 20 Under 40 award winners, which distinguishes 20 professionals under the age of 40 who embody the “Best of the Best” in their construction and design careers. He was also recognized in Building Design and Construction’s “Top 40 Under 40.” Qualk served as editorial advisor and contributor to EDC Magazine where he advised staff editors on relevant topics and authored articles.
WSP’s recent projects in the Transbay District include Salesforce Tower , the tallest tower in San Francisco that redefined the city’s skyline. And the third tallest building in San Francisco 181 Fremont where WSP delivered innovative methods with a focus on water and energy reduction.
