Maureen ‘Mo’ Hagan named Chief Operating Officer of canfitpro

Canada’s largest fitness education company fills key leadership role as it looks to future growth

[Toronto – ON] – canfitpro, the largest fitness education company in Canada has announced that Maureen ‘Mo’ Hagan has been promoted to the role Chief Operating Officer. Mo, who has worked in the fitness industry for over 35 years previously held the role of VP of Program Innovation and Fitness Development for canfitpro.

“Mo is passionate, tenacious, ambitious, and has an incredible depth of knowledge of the fitness industry, both in Canada and internationally,” said David ‘Patch’ Patchell-Evans, President and Founder of canfitpro. “Mo’s innovation and forward thinking will allow her to create and execute on directives and strategies that will help canfitpro transform, evolve and continue to thrive.”

In her new role, Mo will be responsible for canfitpro’s operations, procedures and financial success through vision and leadership. One of the primary goals for canfitpro moving forward is to continue leading the way in positioning fitness as a fulfilling and life-long career path, and to demonstrate that the best way to get started, progress and stand out in the fitness industry is through education opportunities.

canfitpro was founded with a purpose to help grow fitness industry professionals by offering the world’s best educational experiences, training and certification.  While the rest of the Canadian industry didn’t initially see a need for a national voice for all fitness professionals, we did.  We believed that someone needed to move the industry forward by providing accessible and affordable education for all.  I am so very proud of what canfitpro has accomplished in its first 25 years, grateful for the opportunity the fitness industry has gifted me, and I am MO’tivated to provide the same opportunity for others”  says Mo Hagan.

canfitpro is currently putting the final touches on canfitpro / 2019 Fitness Convention and Trade Show which takes place August 14-19 in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The event which celebrated its 25th year anniversary last year and was attended by over 5,000 Fitness Professionals and Consumers. 

About Mo Hagan

A global ambassador on the benefits of exercise and living well, Maureen Hagan or Mo, as she is known in the fitness industry is a licensed physiotherapist, a Physical Health Educator, Reebok sponsored athlete and has been recognized for her work in fitness that spans over three decades.  With numerous awards for your innovation, passion and leadership Mo was named as one of Canada’s 20 Most Influential Women in Sport and Physical Activity (2014), IHRSA’s “Woman Leader of the Year” in memory of Julie Main (2016), Top 20 OPTIMYZ Health & Wellness Influencer (2017 & 2018) and received the Canadian Fitness Industry Leader of the Year (2019).  Mo is a published author and a regular contributor to consumer magazines and on-line publications including the Huffington Post. Mo is member of the Board of Directors for Prescription to Get Active Canada and Women in Fitness Association (WIFA). The “Maureen Hagan Fit for Life Award” was created at her high school to recognize the effort and determination of a student at T.A. Blakelock in Oakville, Ontario.
