INDIANAPOLIS, IN (October 22, 2018) — Mautrice Meriweather, a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) management staff for the past 18 years, has been chosen for the new position of NFHS Chief Talent Officer (CTO), effective November 1.

The CTO position, which was endorsed by the NFHS Board of Directors at its meeting last week, is designed to lead the organization’s human capital efforts, ensuring that the national office is attracting and retaining high-quality talent while also creating opportunities for growth and professional development for the NFHS national office and state association offices.

Meriweather has been NFHS manager of executive affairs and staff relations since March 2000, with responsibilities for the executive staff and Board of Directors while managing the support team members. She has been responsible for the onboarding process for all new employees, directing professional development opportunities for staff members, assisting the legal department staff and development/monitoring of five internal budgets.

Meriweather, who earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Indiana University (Indianapolis) in 2001 and her master’s in communication from IU in 2015, was assistant to the executive director and human resources manager at Community Action in Indianapolis for four years prior to joining the NFHS staff.

Currently, Meriweather is a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association Executive Council and the IU School of Liberal Arts Search Committee. She was president of the IU School of Liberal Arts Alumni Board from 2015 to 2017.

â€śWe are pleased to announce that Mautrice Meriweather will be assuming the role of NFHS Chief Talent Officer,” said Dr. Karissa Niehoff, NFHS executive director. “She has led numerous initiatives and completed significant projects that have advanced management strategies in the NFHS office, and she has facilitated multiple workshops in communication and strategic planning.

“Mautrice holds many professional memberships, as well as a certification in human resource management. She is highly respected by the NFHS state leadership and leaders of many professional organizations in Indianapolis. We are confident Mautrice will do a wonderful job in this new role.”
