NJSIAA girls lacrosse co-sponsor is Hummingbird Sports

HAZLET, NJ (October 2, 2017) – NJSIAA (New Jersey State Athletic Association) has designated Hummingbird Sports as the 2018 co-sponsor of girls lacrosse and the girls lacrosse state championship tournament. The 2018-2019 season marks the first year of the NJSIAA and Hummingbird Sports partnership. Hummingbird Sports will be joining Investors Savings Bank in the co-sponsorship of girls lacrosse.

Hummingbird Sports’ is a company focusing solely on female athletes and safety, specifically on girls lacrosse headgear. Hummingbird Sports’ state-of-the-art protective helmet features excellent lines of sight and a fit specifically tailored to lacrosse. The helmet works with a player’s existing goggles and comes in three sizes – XS, S/M, and L.

“The safety and wellbeing of our athletes is of upmost importance to the NJSIAA” says Steve Timko, the association’s executive director. “We admire Hummingbird Sports’ commitment to the safety of female athletes.”

The NJSIAA (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association) is dedicated to ensuring the safety and fairness of high school sports throughout the state of New Jersey. Under the partnership, Hummingbird Sports will have information and signage on the NJSIAA website and at all girls lacrosse games.

“I want to help ensure that girls have the same opportunities to enjoy and learn from sports that boys do” says Rob Stolker, founder and CEO of Hummingbird Sports. “And I want girls to be as safe as possible while they’re doing it. We look forward to a long time relationship with NJSIAA.”

While NJSIAA does not mandate headgear for girls lacrosse, players have the option of wearing protective headgear.

About the NJSIAA

Established in 1918, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of 435 accredited public, private, and parochial high schools. A member of the National Federation of State High School Associations, the NJSIAA conducts tournaments and crowns champions in 32 sports. Championship competition for girls is sponsored in basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, and volleyball. Boys’ championships are determined in baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, volleyball, and wrestling.
