NSCA and NBSCA Announce New Partnership

Colorado Springs, CO – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Basketball Strength and Conditioning Association (NBSCA). The agreement establishes a mutually beneficial relationship between the two associations that will support each organization’s mission to improve athletic performance and fitness.

As part of the agreement, the NSCA and NBSCA will support one another by sharing resources and knowledge through a variety of channels including publications, conferences, clinics, and webinars. The partnership will also allow all strength and conditioning coaches in the NBA and NBA D-League the opportunity to become a member of the NSCA’s Registered Strength and Conditioning Coaches® (RSCC) Program.

The RSCC Program is a registry of coaches who have demonstrated experience and knowledge in their field. RSCC coaches have a minimum of two years of experience in applying foundational knowledge to assess, motivate, educate, and train athletes for the primary goal of improving sport performance. The Registry is separate and distinct from the medical, dietetic, athletic training, and sport coaching fields by recognizing professionals who are employed full-time as strength and conditioning coaches in either the scholastic, collegiate, or professional levels.

“The NSCA Registered Strength and Conditioning Coaches distinction represents the most qualified coaches in the industry and encourages the highest standards of professional practice and responsibility,” said Jesse Wright, the President of the NBSCA and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. “These coaches embody the rich tradition of excellence and commitment to continuing education that the NSCA prides itself in, and the NBSCA coaches are very excited to join this group.”

“I applaud the NBSCA on its commitment to keeping abreast of the latest strength and conditioning continuing education,” said Scott Caulfield, the NSCA’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. “I look forward to working closely with the NBSCA to provide NBA strength and conditioning coaches the resources they need to continue to be leaders in the field and advance their careers, as well as giving NSCA members more access to the excellent work NBSCA coaches are contributing to the profession.”

About the National Strength & Conditioning Association
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is an international nonprofit educational association founded in 1978. Evolving from a membership of 76, the association now serves nearly 30,000 members in 52 countries. Drawing upon its vast network of members, the NSCA develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention, and research findings.

Unlike any other organization, the NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health, and fitness industries. These individuals are all in pursuit of achieving a common goal—the utilization of proper strength training and conditioning to improve athletic performance and fitness.

Central to its mission, the NSCA provides a bridge between the scientist in the laboratory and the practitioner in the field. By working to find practical applications for new research findings in the strength and conditioning field, the association fosters the development of strength training and conditioning as a discipline and as a profession.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the NSCA serves as a valuable resource for its members, the fitness industry, general public, and the media. The association provides a wide variety of resources and opportunities designed to strengthen, build, advance, and unify.
