In 2018, Orangetheory had 261 new gym openings, 215 domestic and 46 international, including establishing a presence in Poland and New Zealand. The brand will surpass 1,000 open U.S. units in February and is seeking to grow its footprint domestically in the New York Metro area (including Connecticut and New Jersey), Texas (with a focus on Dallas and Houston) and California (with a focus on Sacramento, San Francisco, LA and San Diego).
Orangetheory’s growth is fueled by its science-based, full body approach to fitness, which leverages technology to measure performance and track progress. In a 60-minute class, led by a highly trained and certified coach, members target at least twelve minutes in the Orange Zone, which raises heart rate and charges up metabolism. The result is an increase in calorie burn post-workout, backed by the science of excessive post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC).
