Swimming Pool Deck Equipment Companies Combine Strengths to Serve Customers
Canby, Oregon – August 9, 2018: –S.R.Smith, LLC, a leading manufacturer of swimming pool deck equipment, lighting and access products, headquartered in Canby, Oregon, today announced the acquisition of certain assets of InterFab, Inc. based in Tucson, Arizona. S.R.Smith will integrate the product portfolios except for Inter-Fab’s deck mounted pool slides which have not been acquired. Better together, S.R.Smith and Inter-Fab bring over 100 years of pool industry expertise to product development, manufacturing and operations.
“I determined within the past year that this is a window of opportunity when selling a relatively small, profitable and successful business makes sense,” said Mike Hagerty, President of Inter-Fab. “The capital markets are right for such an opportunity. That, coupled with the fact that I’m approaching retirement age, influenced my decision to sell. In the last 30 years I’ve had the privilege to work with a team of intelligent, hard-working, dedicated, talented and passionate people. We built a business from a fledgling start up in January 1990, to a company that has most certainly left a creative and positive imprint on the swimming pool industry. I believe the culture of Inter-Fab will blend in with S.R.Smith and together the company will innovate, grow and prosper for the good of the industry.”
S.R. Smith has been in business since 1932 when Samuel Robert Smith originally made diving boards out of Oregon’s Douglas fir timber. The company has continued to grow through product innovation, geographic expansion and acquisitions. The company is a leading manufacturer of residential and commercial pool deck equipment with facilities in Canby, Oregon; Portland, Tennessee; Memphis, Tennessee; Tucson, Arizona; and Brisbane, Australia. Several hundred employees are now working for the S.R. Smith family of businesses to provide a broad array of high quality products to customers, as well as exciting growth opportunities for employees.
“During the transition, S.R.Smith is committed to providing exemplary service and support while we work to integrate the businesses into a single company that can better serve customers worldwide,” said Rich Laitta, President and CEO of S.R.Smith. “We are optimistic about the future and believe the combination of S.R.Smith and Inter-Fab creates a stronger company that will bring new ideas and products to the industry.”
