(NEW YORK, NY – May 2, 2014) – The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers is excited to announce their May MYZONE Challenge competition against the popular East Bank Club in Chicago. During the month-long challenge, members of both clubs will go head-to-head for the title of MYZONE CLUB CHAMPION.

The Sports Center and the East Bank Club introduced MYZONE, a new high-tech fitness management program designed to monitor and track a user’s workouts, as part of their continued commitment to providing members the latest in fitness offerings. MYZONE works by having members wear a heart-rate monitoring belt while they exercise.  Screens around the club broadcast a series of personalized, color-coded tiles allowing users to always know precisely what heart-rate zone they are in at any given moment during their workout so they can put in optimum effort to achieve maximum results.  The more time users spend exercising, and the higher the intensity of that exercise, the more MYZONE Effort Points (MEPs) members earn.

At the end of the month, each club will tally up the MEP’s of their top 50 participants. The winning club takes home bragging rights while the losing club must hand over a prize representative of their club or city. Additionally, members of both clubs will also earn raffle entries when they hit specific MEP Milestones, for a chance to win individual prizes from their respective club.

“We’re excited to team up with the East Bank Club to provide our members with the most up-to-date technology to help them reach their individual fitness goals,” commented Greta Wagner, General Manager of the Sports Center.  “We feel this friendly competition will offer members a tangible way to track progress, train more effectively or lose weight using an exciting, convenient and motivating approach, all while enjoying the fun of competing against other Club members.”
