A high school cross country coach in Connecticut has been charged with stealing from his athletes.

Obinna Nwafor, 28, who was serving as the Tolland High School girls cross country coach, has been charged with a dozen thefts form the THS locker room.

According to Patch.com, Nwafor is being charged with 12 counts of sixth-degree larceny for stealing money from the football locker room. The thefts took place during and just after the cross country season and the total of all the money stolen was around $1,150.

When investigators arrived at Tolland following a complaint, they discovered an existing warrant for Nwafor’s arrest. Police found outstanding larceny charges against Nwafor stemming from a September 2015 incident in which he is accused of sneaking around UConn's Hugh Greer Field House and rummaging through gym bags and wallets, according to an arrest report.

Nwafor was eventually charged for eight counts of larceny in that incident but missed a pair of court appearances and a re-arrest warrant was issued in September of 2016.

Tolland has placed Nwafor on administrative leave, pending "due process" amid an investigation.
