Mandan's William Bauknecht Park is set to receive a new playground, which will replace equipment that dates back to 1996.

Recommended for children ages 5 to 12, the new Smart Play Venti playground equipment has 20 play features including a cargo net, belt bridge, cabin climber and two slides. A new swing set and Topsy Turvy also will be installed at the park, 711 Sixth Ave. N.W.

The outdated playground equipment has been removed. Wood chips and a border will be placed before the playground is opened to the public, tentatively, in early September.

The project is estimated to cost $65,000 and will be paid for by capital outlay funds, Mandan Parks & Recreation Park Superintendent Dustin Fleck said.
