Former University of Miami head football coach Al Golden has filed a lawsuit against his old employer for breach of contract, claiming heās owed $3 million and counting.
Goldenās lawyers claim that the figure accounts for āthe unpaid portion of Plaintiffās separation pay as of October 2018,ā according to the Sun Sentinel.
Golden, who is currently employed as an assistant coach with the NFLās Detroit Lions, was fired by Miami in October 2015 after his Hurricanes squad endured the worst loss in school history, a 58-0 drubbing by Clemson. Golden was hired in 2010, and accrued a 35-25 record during his tenure.
In a statement, school officials said, āThe University of Miami is disappointed to learn that former Coach Golden filed suit. The University has fulfilled all of its obligations to Coach Golden in connection with his separation from the University and will defend the claims.ā
Court documents show that Golden is seeking interest and attorneyās fees in connection with his suit.
