This project was initiated by Cornell University to add new program space to Schoellkopf Hall; completely renovate the existing locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms and Hall of Fame Room; and replace outdated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The additional space was required to accommodate a larger varsity football locker room, new mechanical equipment, seven classrooms, new emergency egress stairs, larger meeting rooms and toilets, and a Tradition Room.

Schoellkopf Hall was constructed in 1914, at the north end of the football stadium, and was the original home for Cornell?s athletic program. The distinguished ?arts and crafts? style building is a historically significant building on the Cornell campus. Proposed options to renovate and expand the existing building were unacceptable to the university due to the change in exterior appearance and cramped space, so a new addition, Friends Hall, was proposed.

The interior design of Schoellkopf Hall involved the renovation of the sprint football team locker room, equipment storage room and coaches? locker rooms on the ground floor; the coaches? offices and meeting rooms on the second level; and the construction of flexible classrooms and work areas on the third floor.
