The Williston Area Recreation Center (ARC) is one of the largest park district-owned recreation centers in the nation, offering a wide variety of amenities to the public. The main entrance features a fireplace and lounge area that includes a glass window facade overlooking the pool area. The first floor also houses a four-court, 26,895-square-foot tennis area.

The largest area within the ARC combines four basketball courts and the 200-meter competition track, set in the 56,373-square-foot multiuse gymnasium. Meanwhile, a 40-by-60-yard indoor turf field house can be used for soccer, football and other athletic activities during the winter. The natatorium contains a 50-meter competition pool with bleacher seating, and also features a water park and wave simulator.

A nearly 500-foot-long, two-story curved wood wall links all activity spaces in a grand hall. Circulation bridges cross the towering space with seating areas that overlook the gym, fitness center, indoor playground and other nodes of activity. The exterior of the building combines the use of regional stone, metal panels and extensive windows to present a modern appearance to this progressive building. The dramatic angles and deep overhangs help to shield summer sun, while the southern exposure of many of the windows welcome the warmth of light in a climate that experiences long, cold winters.
