Pinedale Aquatic Center Renovation and Expansion

Area / Square Feet: 71,000

The Pinedale Aquatic Center serves a rural community of 1,600 people who get their outdoor recreation from the surrounding mountain ranges. The public demonstrated its dedication to health and wellness by supporting a substantial upgrade to the high school natatorium and the addition of an indoor recreation component. This complete recreational and aquatic facility includes amenities selected to accommodate all of the Pinedale community’s needs.

Existing natatorium spaces were incorporated into the design of the new facility as the gymnasium, classroom and childcare areas. The new state-of-the-art aquatic portion of the center is carefully designed to accommodate both the competitive and leisure swimmer. It features an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with spectator seating, a diving pool and a movable bulkhead, as well as a recreation pool with zero-depth entry, play components including a current channel and slide, a hot tub and spectator seating. The 30-foot-high water slide spirals three times before splashing into the leisure pool. The facility also houses team locker rooms for the Pinedale High School swimming and diving teams.

The recreation portion of the center was designed to attract a greater number of community members than the old natatorium by providing amenities such as a gymnasium, a climbing wall, racquetball courts, a fitness/cardio area, a walking/jogging track, family changing rooms, classroom space, a party room and a childcare center.
