A multipurpose recreation facility that acts as a western gateway to the City of Kingston, the Invista Centre features a plan that is organized through a two-story circulation spine. Four NHL-size ice rinks, multipurpose rooms, a leisure skate room, dressing rooms and a fitness center are accessible from this space. An iconic glazed and limestone-clad tower element greets users and provides a beacon at night. A lower-scale portico provides protection for visitors entering and leaving the building, while extending the social network created by the spine.

Filled with soft natural daylight, the feature ice pad accommodates 750 seats. Additional viewing and multipurpose spaces are provided at the upper level between pads one and two. The other pads include approximately 250 seats elevated above the dressing rooms. A reception desk is strategically located to view the spine activities. Moving deeper into the building, the spine offers unobstructed views of the ice pads, which are lowered by 16 feet to enhance viewing angles.

The architectural palette presents exposed structural steel and insulated metal panels, comple-mented with architectural block, natural wood and Kingston limestone masonry. The curved architecture theme of the front entry building walls plays off the vaulted roof
design of the arena, visually reducing its scale.
