The University of North Texas Athletic Center and Dining Hall represents the first construction on the school’s new Eagle Point Campus. The three-story facility houses the athletics and football staffs, a 6,200-square-foot weight room, the football locker room and equipment room, and a state-of-the-art sports medicine training room complete with a therapy pool. In addition, the facility contains nine team meeting rooms, three conference rooms and a 400-seat dining facility with a full-service kitchen.

The building interior is organized around a large two-story entry lobby and hall of fame. The design allows both the dining area and meeting room complex to remain in use while the remainder of the building is closed. The second (main) level features a north-facing outdoor terrace, called Touchdown Terrace, which will treat visitors to unobstructed views of a future football stadium.

The building’s exterior skin uses a face brick that complements the brick used throughout the main campus. Cast stone is used as an accent trim. The main entrance and the entire second-floor level, including the dining facility, are designed with an aluminum-and-glass storefront system, allowing for natural light and exterior views. Insulating glass with a ceramic frit was used to reduce heat gain by up to 40 percent.
