This private wellness, fitness, tennis and aquatics club includes a 72,000-square-foot building containing seven indoor tennis courts and a two-story clubhouse called Club West, as well as an 18,000-square-foot, two-story wellness center known as Club East. The owners’ goals included the creation of a comfortable Pacific Northwest-style facility to house family-centered, medically based wellness programs that enhance the healthy lifestyles of residents in this upscale suburban Portland community.

The LEED Silver facility also includes three outdoor tennis courts; a 25-yard, six-lane outdoor pool; a kids’ play area; and a splash pad — all on a constrained site. Pedestrian connections are available to an adjacent hospital/healthcare campus and Brown’s Ferry Park along the Tualatin River.

A rich Northwest color palette, including natural wood accents, was used strategically throughout the project to strike a balance of contemporary design with a warm and relaxing spa atmosphere, all the while adhering to tight budget constraints.

Materials used include engineered wood flooring for multiuse fitness areas and a multilayer acrylic flooring system for the indoor and outdoor tennis courts surface applied over asphaltic concrete.
