For more than 30 years, Massanutten Resort has welcomed vacationers to the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. Known for its great skiing, golfing, mountain biking and music festivals, the property lacked an element to solidify itself as a true year-round resort. The solution was an indoor/outdoor water park and family fun center featuring 85,600 square feet of indoor amenities, including a 56,250-square-foot water park and 88,000 square feet of outdoor play space.

The facility is currently the largest transparent-roofed aquatic facility of its kind outside of Europe. From the sweeping entrance boulevard, dubbed Adventure Drive, guests immediately see the glimmering slide tower, green fiberglass slides and pyramidal roof structure. A heavy timber canopy gathers guests at the main entrance and provides glimpses into the water park and arcade.

On the upper level is the Blue Ridge Buffet restaurant, which features a large dining room and is surrounded by glass walls offering views into the water park, as well as to the outdoor wave pool and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond. The middle level of the park features an open-air family fun center. Here, Diamond Jim’s Arcade and Hideaways Lounge feature floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow parents to unwind while keeping their eyes on their family in the arcade or water park below.

The lower level houses the water park itself, which boasts distinct zones for specific activities. Still, multilevel decks and paths visually link these areas, while focusing attention on the park’s central multilevel play structure.
