Cornell Community Centre & Library | Markham, Ont.

The Cornell Community Centre & Library excited one panelist with its ability to integrate a health care component: “Yes, it can be done.”

Connected to an existing hospital, the new facility combines cultural, educational and therapy functions with more traditional recreation at the heart of a newly integrated health care campus. Several judges admired the interior’s detailing and introduction of natural light, as well as its refined finishes and palette of white and light colors. Said one judge, “The use of wood on the interior makes this facility feel so warm and inviting.”
