Longtime Hooks communications director Matt Rogers was named the sports director for the City of Portland on Tuesday.

Rogers, who has worked with the Hooks for the 11 years, will oversee and manage the city's sports venues at Municipal Park and the city's new Sports Complex.

The Municipal Park and Sports Complexes were opened in October and approved by voters during a 2016 bond election.

The complex features baseball and softball fields, plus a multi-purpose turf field.

Rogers will begin with the city on Dec. 18.
