At least one New Orleans police officer was ready to tamp down LSU’s postgame celebration after the team’s win over Clemson in the College Football National Championship game at the Superdome Monday night.
LSU quarterback and projected No. 1 NFL draft pick Joe Burrow and his teammates decided on celebratory postgame cigars in the locker room, but smoking indoors in public buildings in New Orleans is against the law.
According to a AL.com, an officer told the national champions they could not smoke the cigars that burned for easily 15 minutes after beating Clemson. Another officer tried to tell them it was OK to smoke in the locker but his commander would not relent and threatened to arrest those players who were smoking.

In the end, no one was arrested, and the locker room haze reportedly spilled out into the hallway before reporters were allowed inside for interviews.
The Tiger's post-game antics didn't stop there. Questions were also raised about Odell Beckham Junior's appearance on the field after the game, where he was filmed handing LSU players what appeared to be large wads of cash.

An LSU athletic official told The Advocate on Tuesday morning the money was not real. The school said it is still looking into the matter, because although novelty bills were found on the field during the postgame celebration, it was unclear whether those were the bills Beckham was handing out.
LSU beat Clemson 45-24, capping a perfect 15-0 season.
