A West Virginia high school girl’s basketball team was lucky to emerge with only injuries after their bus overturned.

According to the Charleston-Huntington ABC affiliate, 14 people were injured when the charter bus carrying the Martinsburg High School girl's basketball team crashed as it was getting on I-64 at Eisenhower Drive at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday night.

Dispatchers said that 14 people, including 12 students and two adults, were transported to the hospital, including at least one who was airlifted.

The team was headed to the Big Atlantic Classic tournament in Beckley.

West Virginia governor Jim Justice acknowledged the accident on Twitter, writing, “I ask all West Virginians to join me in praying for the coaches, players, and all those associated with the Martinsburg High School Girls Basketball Team after they were involved in a vehicle accident tonight on I-64.”
