A high school athletic director in Utah wasn’t taking any chances regarding the safety of fans at a football game over the weekend when he stopped the action on the field to ask the crowd to create more distance between themselves.
American Fork High School AD Jeremy Lewis grabbed a microphone and took to the field to address the crowd, asking them to spread out and ensure they were wearing masks.

“The athletic director Mr. Lewis right now addressing the crowd…he is making it very very clear that they will not resume this game until they see masks on the fans,” sideline reporter Tony Parks said, according to Noles 24/7.. “It is not an option. This is something that has to be taken very seriously. They have very strict guidelines with the Alpine school district. When they say you must have a mask, they are saying that you can absolutely not see that as a gentle suggestion. This is mandatory. Put your mask on or this game will not resume.
“The other message is, you must spread out. There have been tickets that have been assigned to a number of different sections and rows and seats and those are not being abided by. They now made it known to the students that you have to move to the section you are assigned to. You have to see the game stop, but you must do it. Everyone wants it to continue, but you must do your part. Collectively, follow the guidelines to give ourselves the best chance.”
American Fork and Timpview would eventually resume their Utah high school football game with American Fork coming out on top 31-21 to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Timpview fell to 0-2 on the year.
