The football stadium at Waterloo (Ohio) High School is out of commission this season due to unsafe conditions in the spectator bleachers. According to the local FOX affiliate, the stands are showing signs of rust and weakened support beams. The area has been roped off for safety.
Luckily for the home team, a neighboring team has offered the use of their fairly new football grandstand just eight miles down the road at Marlington High School.
Marlington athletic director Steve Miller told reporters, “We’ve been in that boat. Anytime you can help out a neighbor, and one who is a former alumni — (Waterloo head coach Mike Divies graduated from Marlington) — we’re happy to do just that.”
Waterloo football hopes to return to their home field next season, pending a levy for the school district on the local ballot this November.
