Facility Friday: Austin FC Renderings, Mississippi State Locker Room and More

Austin FC released updated renderings of its new stadium, scheduled to make its debut when the club joins MLS in 2021. Among the amenities the new renderings show are a south-end seating section for 3,400, a premium seating lounge and a penthouse-level seating section called the West Terrace Porch. The project will break ground in September. ā€” MLSSoccer.com

Rutgers University released a preview video of the RJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center this week, with Rutgers AD Pat Hobbs and RWJBarnabas Health president Barry Ostrowsky leading a short tour. The 307,000-square-foot facility will primarily serve the schoolā€™s wrestling, gymnastics and menā€™s and womenā€™s basketball programs, but parts of the facility such as the cafe will be open to all student-athletes. The facility will feature training areas, locker rooms, strength and conditioning facilities and coaches offices. A grand opening is set for September. ā€” ScarletKnights.com

Marshall University is seeking to raise $22 million to fund construction of an on-campus baseball stadium. Plans for the proposed 3,500-seat facility were first announced in February, and in the meantime architects have been to the site numerous times for talks with school officials to discuss ideas. Current plans include the baseball complex, coaches offices, a training room, an equipment room, four locker rooms and a player lounge area. The target date for opening is ahead of the 2021 baseball season. ā€” Charleston Gazette-Mail  

The University of Idaho broke ground last week on the Idaho Central Credit Union Arena, which when it opens in 2021 will house the schoolā€™s basketball programs. Plans call for a 4,200-seat, 62,000-square-foot facility that will prominently feature Idaho wood in its construction. In addition to hosting sports events, the $51 million project will also support campus and community events. ā€” GoVandals.com

Mississippi State is in the midst of upgrades to its Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex Locker Room. The facility will be modernized and upgraded with 121 state-of-the-art player lockers with custom graphics, illuminated nameplates, electrical outlets, charging ports and custom graphics. In addition, both the locker room and the player lounge will receive upgraded carpeting and LED lighting. ā€” HailState.com
