Nebraska Puts Basketball Court Design to Fan Vote

The University of Nebraska is inviting fans to participate in selecting the design for a fresh basketball court at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

As The Daily Nebraskan reports, fans are invited to vote for one of four designs for the new court, each offering a different combination of logos and staining patterns at center court.

Some design tweaks are already locked in, senior associate AD for marketing and multimedia Brandon Meier told the Nebraskan. Last year’s court featured Nebraska’s block-N logo encircled at midcourt, with the area within the three-point line stained, an unstained key area, and red boundary lines. All of the court options fans are voting on include red painted key areas and white boundary lines, and the midcourt circle has been eliminated.

“We felt the paint should be a colored area and then we tried to shoot for a clean look on everything else,” Meier told the Nebraskan.

All designs up for fan voting were formulated by the Huskers’ graphic design team. The options include combinations of the block-N logo, the word “Huskers” in red script, and silhouetted outlines of the state of Nebraska.

The Nebraskan reports that athletic department staff couldn’t reach a consensus on a design, and so decided to put it to the fans for a vote.

“We all had differing opinions on it,” Meier said. “We all felt like, ‘Well, let’s see what the fans think,’ and we also thought it would be a neat way to engage our fanbase.”

The first round of voting is open until Friday, and the top-two vote-getters from the first round will face off in a second round of fan voting.
