Building Blogs: University of Wisconsin Rec Sports

In March 2014, students at the University of Wisconsin approved a $223 million referendum to overhaul the campus recreation facilities, badly in need of improvement. The school’s current facilities are outdated, overcrowded and behind national standards for amount of fitness space per student. UW-Madison sits behind its peer institutions in the Big Ten, despite the overwhelming amount of students who participate in its programs and facilities each year. Since then, the recreation program has been busy planning, fundraising, vetting architects and much more. John Horn, UW-Madison Director for Rec Sports along with Alex Peirce, UW-Madison Rec Sports Assistant Director of Marketing and Communicationswill be offering an inside look at the process of coordinating such a monumental planning effort.
