Because of the bond that passed in 2018 allowing the district more than $352 million toward new schools, the Omaha Public School District now has a new high school along with a shared YMCA facility. The 315,000-square-foot school sits on 92 acres of land with a capacity for 1,500 students from grades 9 through 12. Its classrooms, intended to work as studios, serve multiple daily functions. The school is designed for flexibility and adaptability, allowing it to change along with the ever-changing education system.
Omaha Public Schools thrives in its public-private partnership with the YMCA of Greater Omaha. The YMCA partnership with Omaha Public Schools will provide vast opportunities for the Northwest Omaha community. The YMCA of Greater Omaha and Omaha Public Schools are steadfast organizations in the Omaha area, committed to serving diverse communities and strengthening the potential of youth.
The joint YMCA facility houses an eight-lane indoor pool, a splash pad, a fitness center, a gym and other amenities. There are spaces exclusive to the YMCA and exclusive to the school, as well as a safe shared space.
