MODERN AMENITIES
The Cambridge Club of Aberdeen is a full-service, member-based social club, including the main building or clubhouse, a pool pavilion building and an aquatics complex. New ownership sought to upgrade the aquatics complex to provide modern amenities. It now includes a 25-meter competition pool, a zero-depth-entry pool, a heated therapy pool, a large whirlpool, a kids pool and a splash pad. A pool house was added, as well as a completely new clubhouse on the site of the original bathrooms and storage area.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY
The owner's vision to create a place that supported the original sense of community and socialization was the guiding design philosophy for this year-round social club. With that in mind, the facility was designed to include a series of stepped terraces and courtyards, culminating with a partly covered rooftop deck that acts as the club's main social hub. The rooftop deck takes advantage of the views of the pools, the grounds and spectacular sunsets, all of which help to foster social gatherings.
