With the federal government shuttered, many federal employees have more time on their hands and less money to spend on filling it.

American University is offering a solution to both problems, leveraging its location in the nation’s capital to boost attendance at athletic events and foster good will among its neighbors.

In a release, the school announced that it would offer federal government workers two free tickets to any home athletic event during the month of January. All that those interested must do is present a valid federal government ID.

“We wish to invite our D.C.-area neighbors and their families affected by the shutdown to enjoy a night of high quality, Division I athletics events at AU,” assistant AD Robert Sherman said in the release.

Eligible events include both men’s and women’s basketball, as well as wrestling.

The federal government shutdown started on December 22, and is currently in its third week. On Monday, the impasse became tied for the third-longest shutdown in U.S. history, according to TIME
