Florida has hired Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs as as Executive Associate Athletic Director.
Jacobs previously spent the past 13 years on The Plains and his new responsibilities include Jacobs' oversight of the communications, marketing, ticketing and GatorVision departments, according to a release from the school.
"Florida Athletics is fortunate to have someone of Jay's caliber joining the UAA," Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said. "His character, vision, experience and ability to connect with people will be tremendous assets to our department. Additionally, having served in a leadership role in the SEC, Jay understands the great privilege and responsibility we have as a member of this wonderful conference. It's exciting to have Jay joining the Gators."
Jacobs job security was in limbo when he stepped down from his position at Auburn seven months ago. He oversaw an Auburn program that hadallegations of inappropriate behavior by former softball coach Clint Myers. The arrest and charges againstformer Auburn basketball coach Chuck Person put even more pressure on Jacobs.
Other accusations included anacademic advisor taking a test for a football player.
Jacobs, however, also oversaw some great successes for the Tigers. Five teams won 12 national titles while he was there and Auburn programs took home 25 SEC championships.
