The Crusaders will replace the departing Wichita State Shockers in the MVC. Wichita State announced that it would be departing the MVC for the American Athletic Conference in April.
Pending negotiation of terms, Valparaiso, currently a member of the Horizon League, will join the MVC on July 1, the same date Wichita State departs.
Valparaiso was chosen as an expansion candidate from a list that also included Murray State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Nebraska-Omaha. The move will keep the MVCās membership at 10 schools, though USA Today reports that the league could expand to 12 āin the near future.ā
