Richmond, British Columbia
Home to the long track speed skating competition, this signature venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games includes a landmark multipurpose sports, recreation and community facility on Richmond’s waterfront. During the Games this premier venue will seat 8,000 spectators and provide first class support areas for athletes, spectators and the Olympic family. Beyond serving as a catalyst for transformation of the riverfront into a high-density, urban neighborhood, the Oval is intended to function as a future venue for community events, creating a lasting legacy beyond its immediate purpose. Project owners are pursuing LEED® Silver Certification.
