Dublin, OH
The building concept for the Dublin Community Pool was formed to be simple in shape and form and arranged in layers to maintain the budget. A clear and simple functional base layer with a focus on the community entry and seamless direction of users was a needed function. It needed to be durable not only for high visitor traffic but also able to weather the elements. The material choice of stone and charred cypress guaranteed the needed level of durability. The structural layer organized the roof forms, sunscreen trellises, and the high layer of windows providing light filled spaces. The roof layer became a simple shed form with a raised box in the center to signify entry and allow sunlight to make its way into the breezeway entry area. The roof sheds water and is used as irrigation for surrounding flower beds.
